With the much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 set to commence from March 28, fans are eagerly waiting for the return of legend and veteran wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni. As with the last few seasons, this year is also being seen as his last, but talks are currently about MS Dhoni and Sanju Samson playing alongside each other in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) colours, a glimpse of which was seen in a recent Twitter post.
Days after helping India to defend the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad, Sanju Samson joined the CSK camp at Chepauk, bringing in excitement. He completed a sensational move to Chennai Super Kings from Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2026 Auction. On March 20, the Yellow Army shared a snippet of the duo in an intense chat during their training session. “This was always destiny, Sanju”, the post was captioned by CSK on Twitter.

While the video is enough to keep the fans engaged, it has been further supported by a voice note where the Indian wicketkeeper-batter was speaking of his profound love for playing with Dhoni. While the T20 WC 2026 winner began, “After that, we used to meet at the IPL, and there used to be a huge crowd in front of the stadium. There were 5-10 people there and I used to think that this was not enough. I have to see it alone. I had such a desire.”
Samson later called it destiny that he would share a dressing room with the legend. “Destiny has got me to come and play with him in one dressing room. Like that couple of months, I am very, very excited. Definitely very genuinely excited to meet him and interact with him. Sit, have breakfast with him, practice with him, play match with him, move out,” he added.
CSK will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against the inaugural title winners and Sanju Samson’s former franchise, Rajasthan Royals, on March 30 in Guwahati. Their first home game is scheduled on April 3, where they will host Punjab Kings, followed by a game each against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (April 5) and Delhi Capitals (April 11). Sanju Samson is likely to be CSK’s vice-captain after Ravindra Jadeja moved back to Rajasthan Royals as part of the trade deal.
