· CBS Sports

No. 2 Georgia and No. 4 Alabama will collide on Saturday in what could be not only a preview of the SEC Championship Game but also be a preview of a College Football Playoff matchup. Georgia (3-0, 1-0) has been its typical dominant defensive self, not allowing a touchdown yet this season, while Bama (3-0, 0-0) has unparalleled balance, ranking sixth in FBS in both scoring and points allowed. Over their last 51 games, the Bulldogs are 1-2 against Alabama and 48-0 versus everyone else.

Bama vs. UGA will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The latest Georgia vs. Alabama odds, per SportsLine consensus, list the Bulldogs as 1-point road favorites, making the Tide home underdogs for the first time since 2007. Why Alabama can cover

Alabama handed Georgia a loss in last year's SEC Championship Game, marking Saban's final victory before retirement. The Crimson Tide have shown no signs of decline under DeBoer, cruising past Western Kentucky, South Florida and Wisconsin by a combined score of 147-26. Second-year starter Jalen Milroe has thrown eight touchdowns and zero interceptions while rushing for 156 yards and six touchdowns.

Milroe was the last quarterback to beat Georgia, as the Bulldogs are riding a 42-game regular-season winning streak. Alabama has won eight of the last nine meetings between these teams, including seven straight in the regular season. The Crimson Tide have covered the spread in 10 of their last 14 games dating back to last season, and they are 29-1 straight up in their last 30 games at Bryant-Denny Stadium. See which team to pick here

Why Georgia can cover

While Bama has gotten the better of Alabama in a pair of recent SEC Championship Games, the Dawgs are on a couple of historic runs in the regular season. They've won 42 straight regular-season games, which is the longest streak since 1953-57 Oklahoma. Also, UGA's 16-game win streak on the road is the longest by any SEC team over the last 30 years. Plus, dating back to last season's Orange Bowl, Georgia hasn't allowed a touchdown in four straight games, giving up an average of just 5.3 PPG, despite facing two top-15 ranked teams over this stretch in Florida State and Clemson.

Meanwhile, Alabama has flaws on both sides of the ball, starting with the team already losing four fumbles this season. Just nine teams in all of college football have lost more fumbles, despite Bama playing one fewer game than most other teams as it already had a bye. On defense, the Tide are susceptible on the ground as South Florida ran for over 200 yards against them three weeks ago. Georgia can exploit Bama through the ground game as RBs Trevor Etienne and Nate Frazier are both averaging at least 5.7 ypc. See which team to pick here
