College football odds, picks, predictions for Week 4, 2024: Proven model likes Florida State in best bets

SportsLine's advanced computer model has revealed its 2024 Week 4 college football picks

· CBS Sports

No. 15 Oklahoma will play its first conference game as an SEC member when it hosts No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday night. The Sooners are 7-point underdogs in the Week 4 college football odds, which is the first time they have been a touchdown home underdog since 1998. Additionally, a ranked Oklahoma team has not been a home underdog of more than four points since at least 1978, and the Sooners were 4.5-point favorites in the look-ahead lines for this week. Is there any value in backing Tennessee as a 7-point road favorite with your Week 4 college football bets?

There are two more ranked vs. ranked matchups on Saturday, as No. 18 Michigan (+5.5) hosts No. 11 USC and No. 14 Oklahoma State (-2.5) faces No. 12 Utah. The Wolverines will have a new starting quarterback under center, as Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore announced that redshirt sophomore Alex Orji will replace senior Davis Warren. Before locking in any Week 4 college football picks on those games or others, be sure to see the latest college football predictions from SportsLine's proven model.

The model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Top college football predictions for Week 4

One of the college football picks the model is high on during Week 4: UCLA (+24.5) stays well within the spread at No. 16 LSU in a 3:30 p.m. ET matchup on Saturday. The Tigers might have won their two games since losing to USC in their opener, but they have not been entirely convincing in those victories. They only led FCS Nicholls State by two points with 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter, failing to cover the spread as 46-point favorites.

LSU then had to claw its way back from a 17-0 deficit at South Carolina last week, so the Tigers are still seeking their first complete performance of the season. UCLA has won four of its last five games against SEC teams and is 9-2 in its last 11 games in September. Given those numbers and LSU's early-season consistency issues, the model has the Bruins covering the spread in almost 70% of simulations. See the rest of its Week 4 college football picks here.

Another prediction: Florida State (-2.5) finally wins and covers the spread against California in a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday. Finding value is all about getting the right number, and Florida State's brutal start to the season has created a valuable contrarian spot on Saturday night. The Seminoles have certainly been disappointing through their first three games, but they were 17-point home favorites against Boston College just two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Cal was a 12-point underdog when it traveled to unranked Auburn earlier this month, so this is a drastic adjustment. The Golden Bears are coming off a sloppy performance against a San Diego State team that was playing without its starting quarterback. They committed 12 penalties for 113 yards in that contest, and it will be difficult for them to go on the road and spring an upset with those kinds of undisciplined mistakes. SportsLine's model has Florida State picking up its first win of the season on Saturday, as the Seminoles are covering the spread in over 60% of simulations. See picks for every other game in Week 4 here.
