‘Disappointed’ Conor McGregor reacts to sexual assault verdict, vows to ‘appeal today’s decision’

Former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor, who also held gold at 145 pounds, lost his highly-publicized sexual assault civil suit on Friday and was slapped with monetary damages by the jury assigned to Dublin’s High Court.

But don’t expect “Notorious” to be cutting any checks just yet.

“I will be appealing today’s decision,” McGregor posted on Twitter shortly after today’s verdict. “The judge’s instruction and the modest award given was for assault, not for aggravated or exemplary damages.”

“I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the DPP reviewed,” McGregor continued. “I am with my family now, focused on my future. Thank you to all my support worldwide.”

That future could include a return to the Octagon in late 2025.

High Court appeals, specifically in civil cases, must be filed within 28 days of the perfection (signing by the court registrar) to be considered. No doubt McGregor’s high-priced attorneys are already drafting up their arguments for round two.

Whether or not they’re successful remains to be seen.
