‘Castlevania: Nocturne’ Readies For Its Second Season With New Trailer

The second season for 'Castlevania: Nocturne' is released on January 16.Netflix, Konami

Following the success of the first season of Castlevania: Nocturne, the second season has a new trailer and will be released later this week.

Loosely inspired by Rondo of Blood and its follow-on Symphony of the Night, Castlevania: Nocturne follows the path of Richter Belmont and his allies against the minions of darkness.

Alucard returned at the end of last season, and the trailers have heavily featured him, making it clear that he will play a big role in how the narrative develops in the second season.

While a few reactions to Nocturne’s first season were mixed, I thought it was well done and very similar to the previous Castlevania series in terms of overall quality, both in terms of the animation and its plot progression.

Regarding the previous Castlevania series, feel free to check out my Blu-ray reviews for the first two seasons, along with the third and fourth seasons.

Like Nocturne, the previous Castlevania series had a specific gaming original, that of the third mainline game, Dracula’s Curse. That said, it did deviate quite a bit from the source material while still remaining faithful to what made the Castlevania games so iconic.

As for Nocturne’s second season, it finally hits Netflix on January 16, and I am definitely looking forward to it.
