"It's a fantastic goal"- Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes applauds Fatawu Issahaku after West Brom win
· GhanaSoccernetLeicester City manager Marti Cifuentes is full of praise for Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku after netting a 'fantastic' volley in the victory over West Bromwich Albion.
The 21-year-old snatched a late winner for the Foxes after meeting a tailored-measured cross from Stephy Mavidi in injury time.
His country-man Jordan Ayew had opened the scoring early in the match for Leicester, but West Brom levelled through Karian Grant before half time.
Although Issahaku showed signs of tiredness late in the game, the manager kept faith in him which he repaid with a sensational goal.
“It always feels good when it’s a late goal that gives you three points, especially when it’s a fantastic goal,” said Cifuentes after the game.
The Spanish manager credited the team for the win, and singled out Issahaku for the moment of brilliance.
“Credit to the players, who believed until the end and they were working hard until the last minute.
“I’m very happy for Abdul because, just before this action, he was cramping a little bit, he wanted to keep pushing in the last minutes and it shows that when you believe in something and there is this togetherness inside the team, then you get your rewards."
Issahaku has now scored fie goals and delivered seven assists in the ongoing campaign.
