Loss of concentration and injuries cost us against Kotoko - Medeama boss Ibrahim Tanko
· GhanaSoccernetMedeama SC coach Ibrahim Tanko beleives loss of concentration and injuries cost his side against Asante Kotoko.
The Yellow and Mauve side in their Matchday 12 game against the Reds took a 2-0 lead but Kotoko rallied from behind to end the game 2-2 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Speaking after the game, Tanko admits that his charges slackened their grip on the lead due to a momentary loss of concentration.
“I will say we lost concentration, and I have to say that because of injuries, it was really painful, and after leading 2-0, the game ended in 2-2. I mean, this is football [and] we have to go and work on our mistakes,” Tanko said.
“Maybe we made our changes earlier, and in the last twenty minutes, we couldn’t have anyone to change, and you could see that some of our players were tired.
“I mean, as I said, it’s football [and] normally before the game if you say I should take three points, I will agree, but how the game went, definitely we deserved the three points, but that’s football," he added.
Derick Fordjour and Yussif Mubarik scored for Medeama before Peter Amidu Acquah and captain Samba O’Neil scored each to send the sparsely populated home crowd into ecstasy.
The result sent Medeama joint top with Heart of Lions and Aduana on 23 points from 12 games, while Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, shares 21 points with rivals Hearts of Oak in 5th position.
