2025/26 Ghana Premier League: Week 12 Match Report - Asante Kotoko 2-2 Medeama
· GhanaSoccernetAsante Kotoko produced a spirited late comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against Medeama at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, recovering from two goals down to rescue a point in dramatic fashion.
Medeama struck early, taking the lead inside five minutes through Derrick Fordjour, who volleyed home confidently after Kotoko failed to deal with a loose ball in the area. Their advantage doubled in the 18th minute when Yussif Mubarik converted a penalty, leaving the hosts stunned and the away supporters in full voice.
Kotoko struggled to settle in the first half but returned after the break with renewed determination. The pressure eventually paid off in the 69th minute when Peter Amidu Acquah reacted sharply inside the box to power the ball into the net and give his side belief.
The Porcupine Warriors pressed relentlessly in search of a leveller, and their persistence was rewarded deep into stoppage time. Captain Samba O’Neil rose above everyone to head home a dramatic equaliser in the 95th minute, sending the home crowd into loud celebration.
The statistics reflected a balanced contest. Both sides recorded 50 percent possession, but Kotoko were more aggressive in attack with 20 shots compared to Medeama’s nine. Seven of Kotoko’s attempts were on target while Medeama managed five.
Medeama were seconds away from going top of the table but remain in second place after back to back draws. For Kotoko, the point does not fully erase the disappointment from their midweek defeat, and they are now without a win in three league matches.
Kotoko will travel to face Hohoe United in their next outing, while Medeama take on Berekum Chelsea as both sides aim to regain winning form.
