Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz meets Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey as World Cup preparations begin
· GhanaSoccernetCarlos Queiroz has begun direct engagements with key Black Stars players, holding talks with captain Jordan Ayew and midfielder Thomas Partey as part of his early preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The newly appointed Ghana coach, who was unveiled in Accra last week, is currently on a European tour aimed at assessing players and building relationships within the squad. His meetings with Ayew and Partey form part of efforts to establish leadership alignment ahead of the tournament.
Queiroz began his work in Ghana by monitoring players from the Black Galaxies before travelling to Europe, where he is expected to meet several other senior players and emerging talents.
The Portuguese trainer is using the tour to communicate his tactical ideas, understand player roles and set expectations as he begins shaping the team for the World Cup. He is also attending matches involving Ghanaian players across Europe to assess their form and readiness.
Supported by his backroom staff, Queiroz is engaging both established members of the squad and potential call-ups as he looks to build a balanced and competitive team.
Ghana will compete in Group L at the 2026 World Cup alongside England, Croatia and Panama. The tournament, set to be held across the United States, Canada and Mexico, will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance on the global stage.
