Bashir Hayford targets league survival as Heart of Lions gears up for Aduana FC showdown
· GhanaSoccernetHeart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has reiterated that his side’s ultimate priority is to secure their status in the Ghana Premier League as the season approaches its final stretch.
The Kpando-based club enjoyed a bright start to the 2025/26 campaign but struggled for consistency mid-way through the season. They currently sit 10th on the league table with 38 points, leaving them with work to do in their remaining five matches to avoid slipping into danger.
Speaking to the club’s media, Hayford emphasized that survival remains the core objective, in line with the mandate he was given upon taking charge.
“As the season draws to a close, our priority is to maintain our Premiership status. That was my initial task—to steer the team away from relegation and build towards the future. We started well but experienced a dip, which is part of football. Now, the focus is on staying in the league and preparing properly for next season. We’ll need the support of our fans to achieve that,” he said.
Heart of Lions now turn their attention to a tough away fixture against Aduana FC, as they travel to Dormaa for a high-stakes encounter at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday.
The clash promises to be fiercely contested, with both sides eager to secure maximum points to improve their positions on the league table. For Heart of Lions, a positive result could prove vital in their quest to maintain top-flight status and end the season on a strong note.
