Ghana’s Black Damsels face Zambia in CAF Schools Football Championship semi-final

Defending champions Ghana are set for a high-stakes showdown against Zambia in the semi-finals of the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship.

Scheduled for Thursday, April 9, the winner of this clash will secure a spot in the grand finale on April 10.

Despite a 1-0 setback against Burkina Faso in their final Group B fixture on Tuesday, the Black Damsels successfully advanced to the knockout stage held at Gateway High School.

The Ghanaian side progressed after a dominant opening day where they dismantled Guinea 6-0 and secured a vital 2-1 victory over Tanzania.

These early results provided the necessary cushion to survive the narrow defeat to the Burkinabe side, ensuring the West African giants remain in the hunt to retain the continental trophy they won in 2025.

Zambia enters the semi-final as a formidable opponent after navigating a competitive Group A that featured hosts Zimbabwe, Morocco, and DR Congo.

Beyond the trophy, both teams are vying for the $300,000 top prize dedicated to school development projects.
