· GhanaSoccernetGhana Women's national team coach Kim Lars has expressed satisfaction with the performances of several new players as the Black Queens continue preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Speaking to GFA Communications, Lars said the newcomers have impressed during camp and are showing signs that they can make important contributions to the team in the future.
The coach singled out young midfielder Linda Owusu for special praise. Owusu, who recently signed for Toronto, arrived in camp a day later than the rest of the squad but quickly caught the attention of the technical team.
"I think all of the new players have been doing pretty well I would say. It was fun to see a young player Linda Owusu that now has signed with Toronto. She came one day later but she and she had been doing so well in the under 20 have been one of the best players and made most important players there and I think she showed that she sooner or later will be ready to do the same thing in the Black Queens," he said.
"We also have Usman Fuseina and new goalkeeper shows that she's there as well and knocking on the door. We have many like good goalkeepers in Ghana. So I know there are another like three four good goalkeepers that is just behind as well but she had been doing well and then we had the opportunity to to watch Mavis Owusu powerful player good player.
"We know that she is able to score goals and we will see what happen in the in the next upcoming WAFCON Cup but we have a lot of like good attacking players and she is one of them,"
