Black Stars coach Otto Addo rallies players to work harder to secure 2026 World Cup qualification ticket

Head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, Otto Addo, has charged his players to stay focused and work harder in the remaining matches of the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to the Germany-trained tactician, this is important to earn the needed points to seal the qualification ticket.

Ghana has so far impressed in the qualification campaign, winning five matches and losing one game. With 15 points, the Black Stars sit top of Group I heading into the games in the September international break.

Speaking ahead of the next match against Chad, Coach Otto Addo noted that although the Black Stars are close to qualifying, there is still a lot of work to be done.

“I mean, like I said, we're very close, but we're not there yet. And yeah, I just try to emphasise to the players that they have to work even harder now. Nobody should relax or think it will go by itself. It's hard work, hard work. And for this, we have to be very, very sharp and focused and to push each other. And then I think if we do so, we will get the right results.  I like it this way rather than the other way around,” Coach Otto Addo said as quoted on ghanafa.org.

Ghana’s next match against Chad will be played on Thursday, September 4. The game will kick off at 1 pm at Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno.
