Asante Kotoko assistant coach Prince Owusu attributed the team’s late 2-2 draw against Medeama to the challenges of extensive travel to honour outstanding Ghana Premier League games.

The Porcupine Warriors have been playing midweek and Sunday games for the past three weeks to clear outstanding games because of their participating in Africa.

Medeama stunned Kotoko early, taking the lead inside five minutes through Derrick Fordjour after the Porcupine Warriors failed to clear a loose ball in the area.

Yussif Mubarik doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 18th minute, leaving the home side on the back foot.

Peter Amidu Acquah halved the deficit in the 69th minute before a dramatic equaliser arrived in the 95th minute when captain Samba O’Neil headed home to secure a point.

“We are very happy with the results. We’ve been all over the country considering our schedule, and to perform against one of the best teams in the league, I think the boys has done well,” Owusu said after the match.

Kotoko remain fifth in the Ghana Premier League with 21 points from 12 games. They will travel to face Hohoe United in matchday 13, hoping to build on their resilient performance.
