Michelle Agyemang named BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year

English-Ghanaian Michelle Agyemang has been awarded the 2025 BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. 

The Lionesses star won the award after an outstanding year, which saw her win the Women's European Championship with England.

Agyemang, twice scored from the bench in crucial games at the tournament in Switzerland to inspire England to success.

"Wow. Thank you so much. I am so grateful. To all my team-mates, coaches, I am so grateful," Agyemang said after receiving the award on Thursday.

"To my family, who have supported me all this year and throughout my career - even if it hasn't been that long - I love you.

"A big thank you to God for this opportunity. I am so thankful."

Her performances in 2025 also saw her receive the Young Player of the Euros and also the Golden Girl trophy in 2025.

The Arsenal forward, currently on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion Women, has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in October while playing for England.

Last season, she netted five times in 22 games for the Seagulls.
