Young Ghanaian winger Ato Ampah on brink of Stoke City move from Chelsea

Young Ghanaian winger Ato Ampah is reportedly on the brink of completing a move to Stoke City as the Championship side close in on a deadline-day deal.

Reports indicate that a medical has been scheduled for Monday, with the overall transfer package valued at up to £3 million. The agreement is expected to include a substantial sell-on clause in favour of Chelsea, where the teenager has developed since childhood.

Ampah, 19, was born in Ghana and joined Chelsea’s academy at the age of 10. He has progressed through the youth ranks and signed his first professional contract in April 2023. The winger has impressed with his pace and direct attacking style, qualities that have drawn interest as he seeks regular senior football.

The move would see Ampah registered as an Under-21 player at Stoke, easing squad registration limits as head coach Mark Robins reshapes his team. Ampah has represented England at Under-18 and Under-20 levels and has already made one senior appearance for Chelsea, featuring in a UEFA Conference League win over Astana in December 2024.
