Newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz will be officially unveiled on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra at 1:00 pm, where he will meet the media for the first time since his appointment.

The 73-year-old Portuguese tactician takes over from Otto Addo, who was dismissed after Ghana suffered back-to-back heavy defeats in March – a 5-1 loss to Austria in Vienna and a 2-1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart.

Queiroz has been handed a short-term deal that will run through the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with an option for review after the tournament. He brings a wealth of experience, having previously managed Real Madrid, Iran, and Egypt and led four different nations to the World Cup.

Following his unveiling, Queiroz will take charge of Ghana’s remaining preparatory matches. The Black Stars are scheduled to play a friendly against Mexico, followed by a final warm-up clash against Wales on June 2.

Ghana have qualified for their fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England on June 23 in Boston and Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
