South Africa will welcome Ghana’s Black Galaxies to Gauteng later this month for an international friendly, the South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced.

The clash is set for Tuesday, 16 December 2025, and will be a key part of Bafana Bafana’s final preparations ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, although the venue is yet to be confirmed.

The South African team is scheduled to fly to Morocco the following day to conclude their AFCON preparations.

Ghana’s senior side narrowly missed out on qualifying for AFCON 2025, ending a streak of more than 20 years of continental appearances.

Under Coach Kassim Mingle, the Black Galaxies will use the friendly to gear up for their upcoming CHAN qualifiers.

The team has been training at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, including a series of preparatory matches to build form and cohesion.

Bafana Bafana will compete in Group B at AFCON 2025 alongside Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe, kicking off their campaign against Angola on 22 December.

The tournament will run from 21 December 2025 to January 2026.
