Hartford Athletic General Manager and Head Coach Brendan Burke has lauded Dan Gaspar’s appointment to the Ghana national team coaching staff for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Burke called the opportunity to work with the Black Stars a "tremendous lifetime achievement."

Gaspar, a highly respected figure in global goalkeeping circles, joins the Black Stars as Goalkeepers’ Trainer under newly appointed head coach Carlos Queiroz.

The move marks a continuation of a 30-year partnership between the two, who previously collaborated during World Cup campaigns with Portugal and Iran.

"A tremendous lifetime achievement for anyone. We are truly lucky to have him as part of our technical staff here in Hartford," said Burke.

"Our entire roster, technical staff, and organization are excited for him and his team to chase the World Cup one month from now.”

Since joining the club in 2022, Gaspar has been instrumental in Hartford’s recent success, including their 2025 USL Jägermeister Cup triumph.

The appointment comes just over a month before the tournament kicks off in North America.

Ghana is set to compete in Group L against heavyweights England and Croatia, as well as Panama.
