Antoine Semenyo has described Rayan Cherki as “one of the world’s best” following the Frenchman’s impressive performance in Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Liverpool.

Cherki continued his fine debut season by registering his 12th assist of the campaign, setting up Semenyo as City cruised into the FA Cup semi-finals.

The pair combined again in the build-up to the second goal, with Cherki releasing Semenyo, who provided the cross for Erling Haaland to finish.

Semenyo, who joined City in January, admitted he has been amazed by Cherki’s quality since arriving at the club.

“Cherki’s one of the world’s best. He can literally do anything with the ball; he makes my life easy,” he said.

“I remember my first day in training, some of the skills he was pulling off… I thought, ‘What kind of player is he?’ He’s a top player.”

Cherki has quickly established himself as a central figure in City’s attack, with his creativity and flair playing a key role in their domestic campaign.
