SCRUBS Revival Renewed for Season 2 at ABC and SHIFTING GEARS Renewed for Season 3
by Jessica Fisher · GeekTyrantABC has released updates on a few of their TV series. Fans of Scrubs will be happy to hear that the reboot has been given a season 2 renewal.
This will be the second season of the revival and the show’s 11th season overall. After a 16 year hiatus, the show came back with original stars Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison all returning. In addition, original stars John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes, Christa Miller, Neil Flynn, Phill Lewis, and Robert Maschio all appeared in recurring or guest roles.
ABC’s Shifting Gears, starring Tim Allen and Kat Dennings, will also return for its third season after airing its second between October 2025 and February 2026. The series follows Matt (Allen), the owner of a classic car shop, whose life is upended when his wayward daughter Riley (Dennings) moves herself and her two kids into his home. The cast also includes Seann William Scott, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis.
It was also announced that the comedy pilot Do You Want Kids? is no longer moving forward at the broadcaster. The pilot was co-created by Rachel Bloom and Dan Gregor, with Bloom also set to star. Bloom and Rory Scovel played a married couple who in one universe have a child and in another do not, with the show highlighting how that one decision impacts their lives.
With these renewals, ABC has picked up most of its current primetime scripted lineup for the 2026-2027 broadcast season. The only show awaiting word of its fate is the midseason entry RJ Decker starring Scott Speedman.
The network is also currently making decisions on the pilot for The Rookie offshoot The Rookie North.
