DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2 Takes a Big Hit in Viewership Despite Better Reviews
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantMarvel fans were hoping Daredevil: Born Againwould find its groove in Season 2, and creatively, it has. Critics have responded more positively this time around, but while the quality may be trending up, the audience numbers are heading in the opposite direction.
According to data from Luminate, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has seen a steep drop in viewership compared to its 2024 debut season on Disney+. When comparing the first five episodes of each season, viewership is down roughly 46%, and total watch time has fallen even harder with a 54% decline.
To put that into perspective, Season 2 has pulled in 4.5 million views, 10.8 million hours watched, and 652 million minutes viewed. Season 1, on the other hand, reached 8.35 million views, 24 million hours watched, and 1.44 billion minutes. That’s a pretty massive gap.
When the show first premiered in March 2024, there was a lot of excitement surrounding the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin. Fans hadn’t seen the two share the screen since Daredevil wrapped its Netflix run back in 2018, so curiosity alone helped drive that initial surge of 1.9 million viewers.
But the mixed reaction to Season 1 seems to have had lasting consequences. Even though Season 2 has improved in storytelling, tone, and action, it hasn’t been able to win back a large chunk of the audience that checked out early.
Five weeks into Season 1, the show was averaging 1.069 million viewers. Season 2 has dropped to just 616 thousand in that same timeframe.
That said, it’s not all doom and gloom for Hell’s Kitchen. Marvel already has a plan in motion, and the future of Daredevil: Born Again isn’t in danger. Season 3 is officially happening and is currently filming. So even if the numbers continue to slide, the story is moving forward.
Season 3 might be where things really explode. Fans have been waiting a long time for the Defenders to assemble again, and it’s finally happening.
Mike Colter and Finn Jonesare returning as Luke Cage and Iron Fist. They’ll be joining Krysten Ritter, who recently made her MCU comeback as Jessica Jones in Season 2, Episode 6. Set photos have already teased their reunion, and that alone could bring a lot of fans back into the fold.
For now, though, Season 2 is still rolling out new episodes.
