GAME OF THRONES Star Kit Harington is Done With Jon Snow - "I Spent 10 Years Doing That. Thanks, I'm Alright”
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantAfter spending a decade trudging through the snow and politics of Westeros, Kit Harington sounds more than ready to leave Jon Snow where he is. Despite once being attached to a solo sequel series, theGame of Thrones star has made it clear he has absolutely no desire to return to the character in audiobook form.
While promoting his role as Gilderoy Lockhart in the Audible Harry Potter audiobook series, Harington spoke with Variety and was asked a seemingly harmless question. If there were ever a Game of Thrones audiobook, who should voice Jon Snow? Harington quickly shut down the idea that he’d be interested in doing it himself.
“No, god no,” Harington responded, apparently interpreting the question as whether he’d be willing to voice Jon Snow. “I don't wanna go anywhere near it. I spent 10 years doing that. Thanks, I'm alright.”
That’s as blunt an answer as you can get. Harington lived inside that character for most of his adult life, from Jon’s early days at the Wall through the controversial final season. Even revisiting the role in voice form sounds like something he’s completely done with.
That’s especially interesting considering Harington was once set to continue Jon Snow’s story in a planned spin-off series titled Snow. The show would have followed the events of Game of Thrones Season 8, exploring what came next for the character beyond the Wall.
Ultimately, the project never made it past development. Harington said of the series:
“We spent a couple of years back and forth developing it. And it just didn't... nothing got us excited enough. In the end, I kind of backed out and said, 'I think if we push this any further and keep developing it we could end up with something that's not good'. And that's the last thing we all want.”
Even without Jon Snow in the mix, HBO’s world of Westeros is far from slowing down. House of the Dragon Season 3 and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are both set to arrive in 2026. HBO has already confirmed a fourth season of House of the Dragon and a second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as well.
For fans excited to return to George R.R. Martin’s universe, the wait won’t be too long. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 premieres on January 18, 2026.
