World Cup 2026: Iker Casillas reacts as Morocco goalkeeper, Bounou saves Mbappe’s penalty

Former Spain goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, has applauded Morocco goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou for saving France captain, Kylian Mbappe’s first-half penalty during both sides’ World Cup quarter-final encounter on Thursday.

Noussair Mazraoui had brought down Mbappe in the penalty box in the first half of the match.

Mbappe then saw his penalty saved by  Bounou at Boston Stadium, Foxborough.

Reacting, Casillas wrote on X, “Mamma mia Bono!”

Bono has let in only two of nine penalties at the World Cup, including shootouts, saving four, while three were off-target.

France eventually ended up beating Morocco 2-0, thanks to two goals from Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.
