NNL: Akwa United get government directives to secure NPFL promotion

The Promise Keepers were relegated to the Nigeria National League, NNL, last season.
Akwa Ibom State government through the Commissioner of Sports Elder Paul Bassey gave the charge during a courtesy to the team visit on Thursday.
Chairman of the club, Joseph Eno, expressed confidence in the players’ ability grab the promotion ticket.
“Akwa United is a big team in Nigeria, and we are determined to restore it to its rightful place by securing promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season,” Eno stated during his address.
“We are here to thank you for the confidence you have reposed in us to lead this team. We do not take it for granted. We also wish to officially notify you that the 2025–26 NNL season has commenced.”
Akwa United have recorded two wins from their opening two fixtures in their two season openers.
Paul Offor’s side will do battle with Ekiti United this weekend at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium.
