GOAT: Why Ronaldo cannot be included in debate – Troy Deeney
by Don Silas · Daily PostWatford legend, Troy Deeney, has given a reason Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be included in the GOAT (Greatest player Of All Time) debate.
Deeney spoke after Ronaldo and his Portugal teammates were eliminated from the World Cup at the Round of 16 stage by Spain.
According to him, Ronaldo has never won a World Cup, expressing his doubts about his inclusion among the greatest football stars.
Deeney also pointed out that the 41-year-old Al-Nassr forward was dependent on other players creating chances for him to score.
“I think for purists of football, we would look at it and go ‘he’s been great, we can appreciate it’, Deeney said on Sun Football.
“But I don’t know if you’d put him in the top greatest players of all time because there are a lot of other people, because again, the big one he never one which is the World Cup.”
