EPL: Why Man City has not sacked me – Guardiola
by Ifreke Inyang · Daily PostManchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted that his achievements with the Premier League club is the reason he has not been sacked.
The champions have not won any of their last six matches in all competitions.
The run has included five straight defeats and one draw – the worst run of Guardiola’s managerial career.
Guardiola has now said he would have been fired, if he had not won 18 trophies in eight years.
“At this football club you have to win and, if you don’t win, you will be in trouble,” he told reporters.
“I know the people say, ‘why is Pep not in trouble, why is Pep not sacked?’
“What we have done the last eight years is why I have this margin. The people rely on me, the hierarchy, all the people.
“It’s not normal in the big clubs to have the results we’ve had, but we have to accept it. What’s for sure is that I want to stay. I want to do it.
“But the moment I feel I’m not positive for the club, another one [manager] will come. It has to be.”
