2026 World Cup: Jermaine Jenas names team to stop France from winning trophy
by Ifreke Inyang · Daily PostFormer England midfielder, Jermaine Jenas, has claimed that Spain are the only team capable of stopping “scary” France at the 2026 World Cup.
France play Morocco in the first quarter-final on Thursday night.
Les Bleus finished top of Group I with victories over Senegal, Iraq and Norway.
Didier Dechamps’ men then thrashed Sweden 3-0 in the Round of 32 and edged Paraguay 1-0 in the last 16.
If France see off Morocco, they are likely to come up against Spain in the semi-finals.
“When it comes to stopping France, it’s tough because I look at Spain and they’re starting to kind of click into gear now,” Jenas told 10bet.
“Spain are still better going forward than they are defensively, whereas France does have the complete package, and are fully in flow.”
