Senegal have qualified for the last 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, thanks to a 3-0 thrashing of Benin Republic on Tuesday night.

The result confirmed the Teranga Lions as the winners of Group D.

Abdoulaye Seck and Habib Diallo gave the West Africans a 2-0 lead, before captain Kalidou Koulibaly was shown a straight red card.

But it was Senegal who scored again through Cherif Ndiaye.

They will now face either Burkina Faso or Sudan in the knockouts.

Democratic Republic of Congo also hammered Botswana 3-0, but will settle for second place.

They play Algeria for a place in the quarter-final.

Other Round of 16 fixtures that have been confirmed are Tunisia vs Mali and Egypt vs Benin Republic.

The other teams in the last 16 are South Africa, Morocco and Nigeria.
