Transfer: Celtic open new contract talks with Iheanacho

by · Daily Post

Scottish Premiership champions, Celtic are now in talks with Kelechi Iheanacho over a new contract, DAILY POST reports.

The Nigeria international made a big impression at Celtic last season following his arrival on a free transfer.

Iheanacho scored crucial goals as the Hoops claimed a double domestic double.

The 29-year-old scored vital goals against Kilmarnock, Dundee, Hibernian and Motherwell.

The former Manchester City star has been linked with a move to Turkey, but he is now set to stay with Bhoys.

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill confirmed that  the club are pursuing a deal to re-sign the striker.

“I’d like to do something with him, (Iheanacho)” O’Neill was quoted by Celtic Way.

“If we can do something relatively quickly, at least he then gets started in pre-season, which is really important for him. It’s something he didn’t have last year.”
