Transfer: Xhaka’s move to Chelsea collapses

by · Daily Post

Sunderland midfielder, Granit Xhaka, has confirmed he will stay with Sunderland ahead of next season.

Xhaka’s latest comments put an end to speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.

The 33-year-old was heavily linked with the Blues, amid talk of a reunion with Xabi Alonso, who he played under at Bayer Leverkusen.

It is believed Alonso also wanted an experienced player capable of bringing leadership to a young dressing room.

But Xhaka has told DAZN: “Sunderland has been my home since day one.

“We are all very happy. I’ve decided to stay where I am; the most important thing is family.

“I’m ready to make history with them.”
