Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember flaps to release in March 2027 – play the alpha demo today
by Stefan L · tsaWo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch on 4th March 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC, Koei Tecmo has announced, but you can play it right now with a limited-time Alpha Demo.
The Alpha Demo is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC – not Switch 2 – from today until 30th September, so make sure to play within the next two weeks.
The latest rampage through history from Team Ninja, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember takes place in 208 AD China, following the events of the first game. As the village of the protagonist is destroyed by Cao Cao’s forces, unleashing demons in the process, you will seek revenge and side with Liu Bei and Sun Quan in their war against the invasion.
Wo Long 2 will naturally try to build on the strengths of the original game, embracing fast-paced combat, using Insight Skills to evade enemy attacks, us the terrain to launch into counterattacks, and deal with various enemies. You’ll also battle through open field recreations of battles from the Three Kingdoms era, including the Battle of Changban and Battle of the Red Cliffs. You’ll be able to explore the environments, potentially recruiting enemy officers to your side to strengthen yourself and weaken enemies at the same time.
The Alpha Demo will feature an early look at the game with the character creation tool leading into the open field of Changban to fight alongside Liu Bei’s army against Cao Cao. This can be played in multiplayer for up to three players. An additional bonus is that players of teh demo will receive the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet for the full game.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition was released in 2024 and scored 8/10 in our review. “Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – Complete Edition is, without a doubt, the ultimate form of Team Ninja’s soulslike series,” said Adrian. “It’s just a shame that no attempt has been made to make this edition more accessible for a new player and to explain the game’s complexities more clearly. Still, if you wanted things easy, then you wouldn’t want Wo Long.”
