Writer alleges that Saber Interactive replaced her with ChatGP on Rideshare “Stimulator”

Stella Sacco, a writer who claims she was working on the recently announced Rideshare “Stimulator” from Saber Interactive, has said she was replaced with ChatGP.

“I didn’t even see this had been announced,” she posted on Bluesky, linking to the reveal video. “I was lead writer on this one! And Saber replaced me with ChatGPT midway through development. All the passenger voices were AI too. Either they changed direction at some point or they’re not disclosing it on Steam.”

“My boss, to his credit, argued over and over with the c-level who pushed the AI — ‘we already have Stella and she’s funny and she’s good at this, she’s done live games before so live ops are no problem,’ etc — but the suit insisted ‘gamers love new tech’ so using AI would be ‘great marketing’”.

“You guys can make your own decisions on purchasing. Fuck AI forever and fuck Saber too,” she rather fruitily concludes.

The writer backed up her claims with a screenshot of a post from 2023 stating that she had just been fired and replaced with ChatGP.

Steam does require publishers to state if AI was used to create a game and there is no such notification on the page for Rideshare “Stimulator”. What there is, is a lot of comments from annoyed gamers who have read Stella’s message.

Clearly this is because gamers love new tech and AI is great marketing!

The trailer for the game, which I am not going to link to, also features a number of references to Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford.

“The dig is because Randy took shots at Embracer in Borderlands 4,” Saber CEO Matt Karch told Game File. “Without Embracer, Randy is performing magic tricks at birthday parties for a living.”
