Something for the Weekend – 28/09/24

It’s Zelda O’Clock in Nintendoland, with the release this week of Echoes of Wisdom and the first actual Zelda-centric game in the series. It’s a lovely time, if you ask me, though sure to be a slightly acquired taste for the shift in gameplay style.

There’s plenty of other games to play this weekend, if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, but first, let’s catch up on the weekly news and reviews, with a bumper crop thanks to the latest State of Play stream!

In the News This Week

Games in Review & Featured Articles

There was a great crop of new games in our review pool this week, as well as some catching up for us to do. The biggest of the bunch, though, is The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

Elsewhere, Miguel took a look at the God of War: Ragnarok PC port, with his biggest issue being just how big it is to install! And Steve dipped a toe into Greedfall 2’s launch into Early Access, but wasn’t entirely convinced by the shift in RPG genre and style. A long way to go before that game’s full release, at least.

Dom had a great time previewing the single player and newcomer friendly MechWarrior 5: Clans, and Aran played the quirky indie game Hush Hush High.

Rounding things out as always, What We Played featured UFO 50, Astro Bot and Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Now then, what have you all been playing?

  • TSBonyman is still taking his time to savour Astro Bot, and thinks he’s around halfway through.
  • And MrYd enjoyed the “cute and fun” The Plucky Squire, grabbed the platinum trophy in Vampire Survivors and has gone to the The The gig in Wolverhampton, which has made him feel a bit old.

That’s the round up for this week. Hope you have a great weekend ahead!
