What We Played – Tides of Tomorrow, TerraTech Legion & Adorable Adventures

As we arrive at another bank holiday weekend in the UK, we’ve opted to stay indoors and play video games despite the sunshine in our notoriously grey climes. At least, some of the time. I’ve been spending a lot of this week with Overwatch, much to the detriment of everything else, and it’s still a day-in, day-out experience that I just can’t step away from. Besides that, I’ve made a start with Alien: Rogue Incursion on Switch 2, and played a little more Smash It Wild too.

Jason was first up this week, and he’s been playing a lot of TerraTech Legion, saying, “It is up there with Vampire Survivors and Megabonk in the genre. It turns out putting a bit of Lego into a game is, in fact, good”. He has managed to play things other than Survivors-likes though, telling us, “I’ve also started FF7 Remake Integrade, which I didn’t love on my first playthrough, but I’m finding a lot more enjoyable this time. I think it’s maybe due to my expectations? There’s an article in there somewhere.”

With 007: First Light on the horizon, Jim has been playing more Hitman 3 this week. He says, “After refamiliarising myself with the game’s inner working, I’ve decided to give the Freelancer Mode a try. It’s a clever roguelite take on the modern Hitman formula that has you dropping into locations to assassinate targets, carrying your gear (and any earned currency) into the next mission. Fail a key mission, however, and your progress will be reset. Agent 47’s hideout is pretty cool too, displaying various weapons and trophies you collect throughout your murderous career.”

Aran played Adorable Adventures and Moomintroll Winter’s Warmth for review which he says were both fun and stress-free experiences. He’s also completed the Dondoku Island side quest in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, so now he’s back on the mainland continuing with the story.

Meanwhile, Gamoc played Tides of Tomorrow and Ghost Master for review. He also finished Resident Evil Requiem and played some Starfield, though that last one has made him very, very angry as he’s hit some classic Bethesda save file issues which might wipe out all his progress…

Miguel got an AYN Thor handheld a few weeks ago – I am very jealous! – and after lots of time tinkering and setting it up, he’s been sitting down with it and playing a bunch of stuff on it! He tells us that it’s been, “Mostly it’s been .Hack Infection for the PS2, but also a little Ball X Pit! Also played some Super Alloy Crush aaaand just started playing Saros.”

Ade turned in his review of Aphelion, which he says, “Bafflingly turned out to be both brilliant and bad all at the same time.”

And finally, Tef has had a busy old week, and can’t quite keep tabs of what he can and can’t yet tell us all about. So he’s going to play it safe and say that (while it was a little while ago now), he had a great time previewing 007: First Light and was really impressed with how IO Interactive took elements and ideas from Hitman, weaving them together with slicker action to create something with a lot of potential.

What about you? What have you played?
