India Australia Test Day 2: Australia all out for 104, solid start by openers put India at 84 for no loss

India’s overall lead over Australia is 130 runs.

Jasprit Bumra who led the India’s fightback against the Aussies on Friday, took the wicket of  Alex Carey in his first delivery on Day 2 of the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Perth on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

Australia were 74 for eight (31 overs) after the dismissal of Carey.

Within a short time, it was the turn of Harshit Rana to dismiss Nathan Lyon. He was caught by K.L Rahul and came back to the pavilion with 5 runs.

After the loss of Lyon’s wicket Australia were 79 for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of 34 overs.

But with stiff resistance to the Indian attack from the Australian pair of Starc and Hazlewood, the host remained at 100 for the loss of 9 wickets after 44 overs.

Then during the 52nd over of the Indian attack, Harshith took the wicket of Starc caught by keeper Rishab Pant. He scored 26 off 112 balls. Australia’s score in the first innings ended up with 104 on board, giving India a lead of 446runs.

Coming into back again in the second innings, Indian openers gave a solid start with K.L. Rahul at the crease with 34 runs and Yeshavi Jaiswal unbeaten with 42 runs. At Tea., India looked solid with 84 for no loss, with an overall lead of 130 runs.

Earlier on Friday (November 22, 2024) the host struggled at 67 for seven after restricting India to 150 in its first innings. Australia’s reply became a hoarse whisper as Jasprit Bumrah (four for 17 on Friday) bowled like a man possessed, a trait he replicates in most contests.
