Viktor Gyokeres sends new message to Ruben Amorim as Man United transfer timeline set

Sporting Clube de Portugal striker Viktor Gyokeres continues to make headlines for all the right reasons amid links to Manchester United.

The Sweden striker has become one of Europe's most coveted talents following his stellar performances with Sporting CP. Gyokeres has already netted 26 goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for the Portuguese giants.

Although he has a £83million release clause inserted in his contract, it is believed there is an agreement where Sporting president Frederico Varandas would let him depart next summer for a fee of around €60-70m (£50-58m). Ruben Amorim, an admirer of Gyokeres, has already ruled out a January move for the forward, though a summer transfer is a possibility.

Prior to the international break, Gyokeres had quite the week, scoring a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League. He has since gone on to score five goals in two of Sweden's Nations League games.

In their 6-0 win over Azerbaijan on Tuesday night, Gyokeres netted four times. He has taken his tally up to nine goals in the competition - overtaking Erling Haaland who had scored seven goals for Norway.

"We did what we could, we needed to win with some goals and we did it," Gyokeres said post-match. "It was a good night and it was good to score some goals. I feel in good shape, hungry and wanting to score a lot of goals. I feel like I'm often in the right position, so there will be goals."

Meanwhile, midfielder Emil Forsberg added: "He is incredible, he is on an unparalleled scoring streak. He's always evolving and doing what he's good at."

Following the wins over Slovakia and Azerbaijan, Sweden climbed top of the Nations League C group, securing promotion to the second division of the competition.
