Mohamed Salah issues honest Man City verdict before huge Liverpool title clash

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has dismissed Manchester City's recent slump, admitting that the Premier League champions are poised for a comeback. Following their 3-2 victory over Southampton, the Reds have extended their lead to eight points at the top of the table, capitalising on their rivals' misstep.

City were stunned by a 4-0 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening, providing an opportunity for Arne Slot's team to widen their lead at the summit of the Premier League. Despite falling behind, Liverpool managed to secure the win against the Saints.

After taking the lead through Dominik Szoboszlai, Russell Martin's team responded with goals from Adam Armstrong and Mateus Fernandes. A second-half brace from Salah was needed for Liverpool to regain the lead and distance themselves from City ahead of their clash next weekend.

The loss to the North London club marked a five-match losing streak for Pep Guardiola, with the disappointment at the Etihad Stadium resulting in three consecutive Premier League defeats. Despite the poor performance from City, Salah has warned they will rebound as he aims to help Liverpool extend their lead to 11 points.

"It's great, hopefully we can keep going in the right direction," he admitted on Sky Sports following Liverpool's win. We have a game against them coming up, hopefully we win so we can go more ahead like 11 points.

Hopefully we can beat them to go further (ahead)." Before that huge clash, Liverpool take on Real Madrid in the Champions League at Anfield.

As for City, Guardiola's side will be aiming to end their shocking run of defeats at home to Slot's former club Feyenoord in European action.
