Ruben Amorim reveals what Rasmus Hojlund must improve after matchwinning performance for Manchester United

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has urged Rasmus Hojlund to take fewer touches after his matchwinning performance against Bodo/Glimt.

Hojlund pressed Bodo goalkeeper Nikita Haikin into losing the ball to allow Alejandro Garnacho to score after 48 seconds and the Dane then scored United's equaliser and winner to double his tally for the campaign.

The 21-year-old did not start in Amorim's first match in charge against Ipswich Town but responded impressively to help secure United's second Europa League win of the campaign.

"I think he improved the connection," Amorim said. "I think he has to improve more because sometimes he gives too many touches when he holds the ball.

"But he’s really important for us because when we are in the low block he is the guy to hold the ball, to connect for transitions, he did that very well, he has that characteristic, he was aggressive in the goals, he was aggressive in the box and he is a quality player.

"I think he scores the most difficult goals so he has a lot to improve. Is the same for every player but he did a great job today."

United had to come from behind to secure their first win under Amorim and they have now risen to 12th in the 36-team Europa League table. United are only four points off first place with four games remaining. The top eight automatically qualify for the round-of-16.

The United supporters greeted Amorim with a tricolor flag in the Stretford End that read 'Bem-vindo a casa Ruben' (welcome home Ruben).

Amorim noticed improvements from the stalemate at Ipswich Town on Monday. "I think we improved different things since the last game.

"Was special because half of the stadium doesn’t know me," Amorim added, "and you can say I came from Portugal and half of the stadium doesn’t know me.

"And I have done nothing for this club yet but the way they support me. In the beginning I felt that I am not alone here, I am one of them now and it was really special and I really hope I do not disappoint my supporters."
