'It has to be' - Bruno Fernandes reveals Manchester United's biggest priority this season
by George Smith · Manchester Evening NewsCaptain Bruno Fernandes has admitted winning the Europa League is "probably the biggest target" Manchester United have this season.
United will resume their Europa League campaign when Bodo/Glimt visit Old Trafford on Thursday evening for what will mark new head coach Ruben Amorim's first home game in charge.
The Reds have won just one of their opening four league phase matches this season, beating PAOK 2-0 earlier this month under former interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy. They had previously drawn each of their first three matches.

United have not tasted success in Europe since winning the Europa League in 2016/17 under Jose Mourinho. The Reds looked a strong bet to win the competition again under Erik ten Hag in 2022/23 but were eliminated at the quarter-final stage by Europa League specialists Sevilla.
Having triumphed in both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup in each of the last two seasons, Fernandes is now hungry to experience the thrill of winning a European trophy with United.
"I see it as a target [winning the Europa League]," Fernandes told TNT Sports. "It has to be.
"This club, we can't hide from it, we have to win trophies. It's about winning trophies. Either we fight for all of them or not.
"We have to go into every competition understanding that we have to fight and do the best we can to get into the moments where we can win something. As the manager said, we need time to implement everything that he wants, but at the same time, we need points.
"When you start to win with a foundation and with the base you have, you start to believe even more as a player and as a manager that we can do things right and the way he wants.

"For us, the Europa League is a target. It's probably the biggest target we have for the season, as silverware in a European competition - it's really big.
"We're still in the FA Cup, which is massive for us. We know really well from last season how much it means for us and the fans.
"We're still in the Carabao Cup, and in the league, we have to do the best we can to get in the highest position possible."
