How much Mike Tyson is getting paid for Jake Paul fight
by Shane Ireland · Manchester Evening NewsThe boxing match everyone has been waiting for is nearly upon us, with Mike Tyson making a comeback to the ring for his first official fight in almost two decades against Jake Paul, who transitioned from YouTube fame to boxing. The heavyweight clash will pit the 27 year old internet sensation against the legendary boxer, who is 31 years his senior, in an eight-round contest in Arlington, Texas.
Originally scheduled for July, the bout was delayed after Tyson fell ill on a flight due to an ulcer flare-up. Paul has caused quite a stir in the boxing world since his professional debut in 2020, defeating YouTubers, ex-basketball players, MMA fighters and professional boxers Andre August and Ryan Bourland.
His first defeat came at the hands of Love Island's Tommy Fury in a high-profile fight in Saudi Arabia last year. Tyson, on the other hand, needs no introduction to boxing enthusiasts as he is considered one of the greatest heavyweights ever, boasting 50 wins out of his 58 professional fights, with 44 of those being knockouts.
Known for his aggressive boxing style, he ruled the division for years and maintains a formidable reputation even decades after hanging up his gloves.
The 58 year old has disclosed that he's been 'begged' not to enter the ring for the upcoming bout, yet he remains intent on demonstrating his prowess against a much younger adversary, aiming to prove he's still got the edge. Both fighters are set to receive a hefty payday from the event.

So, what's the payout for Mike Tyson in this high-profile clash?
While the precise figures of the fighters' contracts remain under wraps, Tyson has played down the financial impact of the bout with Paul. "This fight is not going to change my life financially," he shared with SPORTbible.
"If I did it for free, it's not going to change my life. My wife is constantly telling me, you do not need to do this fight. This is what I want to do, this is me. I'm seeking my glory."
Nevertheless, reports suggest Tyson could be pocketing around $20 million (£15.5m) for his efforts.
Rumours have circulated about an even split of the purse, but Paul has claimed he'll earn twice as much as Tyson, expecting to take home $40 million (£31 million) for stepping into the ring with the boxing icon. Earlier this year, the YouTuber-turned-boxer stated: "I didn't bring [Tyson] to do s***; I'm here to make $40million and knock out a legend. I don't give a f*** about anything else, he's the one who wanted it to be a pro fight and he's going to get his a** knocked out for real."
"You're going to see on his record; Jake Paul KOs Mike Tyson; I'm not here to do s**t except make a bag... Every time fighters sit across from me and it's 'YouTuber this and Disney kid that' and they end up on the canvas... this is going to be no different."
Paul also revealed that his contract includes "bonuses" that could increase both his and Tyson's earnings. "There are definitely certain guaranteed figures and other certain built-in bonuses and stuff on top of sales key performance indicators that trigger certain things," he explained.
"This is definitely my biggest payday, of all the fights for sure. It is definitely a healthy payday."
What is Mike Tyson's net worth?
Tyson is believed to have made over $300 million (£234 million) during his boxing career, with Forbes suggesting his earnings could have even reached an incredible half a billion pounds or more. However, he managed to squander all of that vast wealth, with extravagant parties, massive mansions and costly cars seeing him spend the enormous amount of money he had earned.
To put it in perspective, he famously purchased a solid gold bathtub for his ex-wife that cost him £1.75 million, while he also spent over £100,000 to buy two pet tigers. However, after declaring bankruptcy in 2003, he is thought to have gradually rebuilt his net worth to around £10 million, partly through running a successful cannabis company and podcast series.
Meanwhile, Paul, his opponent, is estimated to have a net worth of around $80 million (£62 million), largely earned through his successful career as a YouTuber and influencer. He has also founded his own media company, venture capital fund, and men's skincare brand.
As a boxer, he pocketed more than £6 million for his fight against former Love Island star Tommy Fury last year. The eagerly awaited match between Tyson and Paul is set to kick off at approximately 4am UK time on Saturday, November 16 (or 10pm Friday in Arlington, Texas where the bout is taking place).
The main card, featuring four fights, will commence at 7pm local time, or 1am in the UK. Depending on the length of the preceding three main card fights, the main event could start earlier or later than planned.
The fight, comprising eight two-minute rounds, will be broadcast live on Netflix, marking the streaming giant's debut into live combat sports. If you're a Netflix subscriber, you can watch Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson at no additional cost.
Monthly subscription plans begin from £4.99, which includes adverts, and go up to £17.99 for the Ultra HD service.
