Arne Slot shares difference between Trent Alexander-Arnold and two Liverpool contract rebels
Trent Alexander-Arnold has just six months remaining left on his contract at Liverpool and Arne Slot dropped a major clue on what the future could hold for the Reds defender
by Daniel Orme · The MirrorArne Slot believes there is more outside noise involving Trent Alexander-Arnold compared to Liverpool’s two other contract rebels.
The Liverpool defender has just six months remaining on his contract at Anfield. He can engage in talks with foreign clubs as soon as the January window opens regarding a free transfer in the summer.
Alexander-Arnold is not the only star who could be leaving however. Both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are also out of contract in the summer and could leave for nothing.
But Slot believes that Alexander-Arnold’s situation is slightly different due to the constant speculation surrounding a potential move to Real Madrid. Asked if the three stars current standings are slightly different, Slot replied: “Not on the inside, but on the outside, it definitely does because people talk more about it.
“Not only about these three but also about other players. So it will also be about the ones we bring in or ones who could also leave."
Asked further if the academy graduate was the biggest worry in terms of his deal, the Dutchman added: "I don't think it's negative at all. He's playing really well, he scored a great goal and the way he celebrated probably tells you enough.
"I don't think I have to say too much about it. I'm really happy with Trent, as I am with Mo and Virgil. For me, there's no difference. Maybe there is more happening in the media [with Trent] than the other two, but I'm really happy with the three."
Slot’s comments come on the same day that fresh links with Real Madrid have emerged. AS claim that a move to the Santiago Bernabeu is ‘almost complete’.

A switch will be finalised ahead of an official announcement closer to the summer out of respect to Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold was apparently not keen on a mid-season exit.
Meanwhile, the defender appeared to drop a subtle hint during the Reds’ Premier League victory against West Ham on Sunday. After finding the back of the net with a deflected effort, he celebrated by putting a hand up to his ear and pretended that it was talking.
Alexander-Arnold was not the only Liverpool star to drop a hint after scoring. Egyptian forward Salah also shone but revealed that a new contract was still some way away.
"No, we are far away from that," Salah told Sky Sports when asked if there would be good news soon. "I don't want to put something in the media and people start saying stuff, but nothing really [has] moved on but for now I'm focused on the team and hopefully we win the Premier League."
