Tesco car park fire drama as 999 crews race to tackle Boxing Day inferno

Dramatic pictures show the moment a car is engulfed in a ball of flames in a Tesco car park in Cornwall

A huge blaze has broken out at a Tesco car park with firefighters racing to the scene.

Pictures show huge flames engulfing a car at the supermarket in Camborne, Cornwall, on Boxing Day.

A witness told CornwallLive they were eating christmas-dinner>Christmas dinner with their family when they noticed the smoke. They said: "Police turned up first, followed by one fire unit, and then an ambulance. There were no obvious casualties".

Firefighters can be seen in the dramatic pictures working to extinguish the blaze.

It is not thought that anyone suffered any injuries as a result of the blaze which started at about 3pm. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

A statement from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "One fire appliance from Tolvaddon Community Fire Station attended a report of a car fire on Wesley Street, Camborne. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire by 1545hrs."
