Ange Postecoglou gives Richarlison fitness update and confirms fresh Tottenham injury for Arsenal

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Richarlison is available for Tottenham's North London Derby clash against Arsenal, but Timo Werner has sustained a hamstring injury. The Brazilian has endured such a stop-start season to date through injury, playing just seven games in all competitions for Spurs.

Richarlison's last outing came in the 4-1 win over Aston Villa at the beginning of November but he unfortunately had to make way moments after teeing Dominic Solanke up for the third goal of the game. On the sidelines with a hamstring injury for just over two months, the 27-year-old's return comes at the perfect time for Postecoglou and Spurs as they have lacked cover for Solanke during his absence.

It remains to be seen how long Werner will be out for as Tottenham are waiting for the results of the German's scan. A blow to lose another attacking player, Spurs at least have Richarlison and Mikey Moore as options once again following their time on the sidelines through injury.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference at Hotspur Way on Tuesday afternoon, Postecoglou was asked about the players recovering from playing on a 3G surface at Tamworth and for the latest on the injury front going into the game. He said: "Not too bad. It takes a fair bit out of the players so we have done some extra recovery and we won’t train until this afternoon to give the boys a chance to recover because the pitch takes a bit out of you.

"The only one who picked up an injury is Timo. He picked up a hamstring injury and we are waiting on the results of that scan.

"Everyone else, apart from being sore, pulled through okay. In terms of incoming, Richarlison is available."

When asked if it is a good time to play Arsenal considering both sides have injuries, Postecoglou added: "Well you have got no choice, that's the fixture. You’ve got to accept it.

"We have been in this situation for quite a while now and obviously hopefully there will be some light at the end of the tunnel in terms of players coming back and like I said Richy. It was good for Mikey to get an hour on the weekend or whenever it was. I have lost track of days.

"The situation is what it is but a big game tomorrow night. Big game for the club, big game for our season, big game for our supporters so I’m looking forward to it."
