Arsenal receive major Gabriel Jesus injury update as Mikel Arteta plan clear

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is reportedly set for a long period on the sidelines after suffering a suspected anterior cruciate ligament rupture. According to The Athletic, the Brazilian will undergo further reviews on Tuesday to establish the full extend of the damage.

The former Manchester City forward was stretchered off during Sunday's FA Cup exit to Manchester United on penalties. Jesus was left in a heap after colliding with Bruno Fernandes midway through the first-half and now the Gunners could be without the attacker for a prolonged period.

Jesus was forced to go under the knife after suffering a knee injury after the 2022 World Cup, but the current issue is said to be with his left knee. As a result of the latest attacking casualty, Arsenal could be forced into the market although the Athletic has added that while there is room to manoeuvre financially, loan moves are a possibility due to the complications of permanent deals

"Big worry, that’s my feeling," Arteta said on Sunday, "He had to come off on a stretcher with a lot of pain, he was touching his knee. It’s not looking good.

"I think it’s the other one [knee injured in 2022]. But the worrying factor is the feeling he had when he had to come off and the pain that he was in."

Arsenal sit six points off the pace in the Premier League title race, with Liverpool looking to extend their lead on Tuesday when they come up against fellow rivals Nottingham Forest - who could leapfrog the Gunners into second and reduce the deficit to three points.

The Gunners will host fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, looking to bounce back from their shootout disappointment but they will need to find a source of goals after their profligacy has been pointed out in recent months.

X account Physio Scout - Football Injury Analysis reviewed the issue for Jesus and tweeted: "Collapse of the knee, pivoting and a tibia bone shift were seen, which usually points towards an ACL injury (+/- meniscus).

"There is still a chance that he's only suffered a meniscus, isolated MCL injury or just a bone bruise. But that would be an unlikely scenario. If ACL: 9+ months If Meniscus: 3-4 months. If Bone Bruise: Less than a week."
