Arsenal 'monitor' Serie A striker as Man City transfer battle emerges
by Mark Wakefield · football.londonArsenal will be busy looking ahead to a return to Premier League action this weekend.
The Gunners will face Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium in the return to top-flight football following the November international break.
Mikel Arteta's side went into the two-week hiatus on the back of a disappointing defeat at the hands of Newcastle, and will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face Forest in north London this weekend.
Away from the action on the pitch, Arsenal are being linked with several potential new signings ahead of the January transfer window.
It remains to be seen if the Gunners have any plans to strengthen their squad in the New Year, with the speculation likely to increase as the transfer window draws ever closer.
Here, football.london takes a look at some of the latest Arsenal transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.
Arsenal 'monitor' Dusan Vlahovic
Arsenal are being linked with a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
According to the Daily Briefing by Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are keeping tabs on Vlahovic's situation at Juve ahead of a potential move either in January or next summer. Arsenal have been heavily linked with signing a new striker for the past 12 months.
The report claims that Arsenal are expected to make contact with the Serie A giants over a move for Vlahovic in January. It has been suggested that the Serbia international could leave Turin in the coming months amid uncertainty around his own future, with his contract at Juventus set to expire in 2026.
football.london says: This is not the first time that Arsenal are being linked with a striker and it won't be the last. Vlahovic joins a list of reported striker targets that include Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko, to name a few.
If the right terms can be agreed for the signing of Vlahovic in the New Year, it would not be a surprise to see the striker complete a move to the Emirates.
Arsenal face Man City competition for transfer
Arsenal are reportedly still in the running in the race to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
According to TBR Football, the Gunners are joined by Liverpool in monitoring Zubimendi's future ahead of potential move in January. Zubimendi was close to signing for the Merseyside club last summer before opting to remain in Spain.
The report claims that Manchester City have also joined the race to sign Zubimendi ahead of the New Year. Zubimendi is reported to have a £51million release clause in his contract.
football.london says: Arsenal were first linked with signing Zubimendi earlier this year, but the rumours quietened down as the Gunners turned their attention to Mikel Merino instead. Now that Zubimendi is still apparently a target, it will be interesting to see if the club will be able to convince the midfielder to leave Sociedad.
