As Sega continues to prepare the next generation of Virtua Fighter, it’s making sure the current version has found its way to all systems, including the Nintendo Switch 2 this week. Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage has just launched on the platform, and it marks the first time Virtua Fighter has appeared on a Nintendo platform outside of the Virtual Console and Nintendo Switch Online Sega Genesis library.

Sega announced the launch of Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage on Switch 2 with a social media post from leading producer Seiji Aoki, who thanked fans for their support of the classic game. Aoki also shared that more professional competition is coming in 2026, with EVO Japan acting as a qualifier for a bigger Virtua Fighter 5 championship coming later in 2026.

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have poured major energy into Virtua Fighter as of late, keeping the fire burning for Virtua Fighter 5 with new updates and releases as it prepares the next big game in the franchise. There’s still a lot to see on the next game, but the current activity helps to bridge the gap a bit between games.

Even so, a modern Virtua Fighter coming to Nintendo platforms is a milestone worth celebration. Here’s hoping it’s not the last time. Stay tuned to the Virtua Fighter topic for more updates.
