Shack Chat: Who is your Invincible VS main?

The Invincible franchise is entering the fighting game sphere and the Shacknews staff are eyeing off their main character.

Invincible VS is here and the fighting game lovers are ready to throw down. With a roster full of iconic characters from the graphic novel and animated television series, players have some difficult choices to make when it comes to their main pick. But, if you can only pick one, which one are you picking?

Question: Who is your Invincible VS main?

Rex Splode - TJ Denzer, Senior Fan of Snark and Explosions

Rex Splode has always been my favorite character in Invincible. His powers are like Gambit, being able to charge any inorganic object to explode, and he’s got a reckless, jocular attitude I really enjoy. He also proves to be one of the most heroic and scrappy humans in the Invincible universe. It just so happens that in the game, he’s also a nasty buzzing fly to lock down, packs a ton of projectiles, and has some awesome combo, offense, and defense potential, at least in my opinion. Safe to say, I built my team around Rex Splode. My second and third will come and go, but I’ll always keep Rex Splode’s endless quips at the heart of my squad.

Battle Beast - Bill Lavoy, Shackmaps Overlord

Since I’m not at all familiar with Invincible VS, I’m going strictly off of name and look of the character. I can get behind someone named Battle Beast, and a quick glance shows me that this person is older and more mature, and that’s my vibe. Whenever I can approach a game with old man vibes, that’s my preference.

Battle Beast - Sam Chandler, Let it roar

I’ve not read the Invincible graphic novel, so my knowledge of the characters is limited by what’s happened in the show. And, I got to say, Battle Beast is an absolute… beast. Is he as strong or stronger than your average Viltrumite? I think so. He loves battle, he longs for a noble death, and he wants nothing more than to find his equal. Plus, one of my favorite bands is called Battle Beast. An obvious choice.

Atom Eve - Donovan Erskine, Earthling

Eve is one of my favorite character in the Invincible TV show, so I’m excited to play as her in Invincible VS. I took her for a spin during the open beta earlier this month and thought she was pretty sick, with the game making great use of her powers and personality. I’m not fighting game literate enough to know if she’ll actually be dangerous, but best believe she’ll be in my lineups.

Omni Man - Steve Tyminski, I like the sound of that!

Who is my Invincible VS main? I don’t know too much about the series as a whole but I have a pretty good idea who my main character is going to be. I’m going with Omni-Man. I’m going with him because I like his character design. I also really like the fact that J.K. Simmons is his voice actor. Getting to hear his voice over and over again will make playing that much more enjoyable for me. Usually I come up with an interesting reason for my main interest in fighting games. In Mortal Combat, I main Kung Lao because I liked his hat as a kid and it stuck. Having a cool voice as my reason is just par for the course for me.
