by TJ Denzer · ShacknewsCapcom has been on a hot streak in 2026, and it continued with showing off the latest details about Mega Man: Dual Override on the September Nintendo Direct. This time we got a reveal of Proto Man as a playable character, and we even got to see him in action with a gameplay trailer.
The September 2026 Nintendo Direct trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override can be seen below.
Proto Man being playable in Mega Man games is hardly new in of itself. He was most recently playable in Mega Man 10 from the start. However, in Dual Override, Proto Man is said to have quite a different playstyle from Mega Man as a playable character, featuring unique “Custom Chips, close combat techniques, and a powerful Override to overwhelm enemies.”
Mega Man: Dual Override is set for release in spring 2027, so stay tuned for further updates on the Mega Man series topic.
