Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 announced for summer 2026
Cold Iron Studios returns with Daybreak Games publishing its next chapter of co-op multiplayer Xenomorph extermination.
by TJ Denzer · ShacknewsAnother game in the Aliens: Fireteam Elite series has been confirmed by Cold Iron Studios and new publisher Daybreak Games (Everquest, D&D Online, Lord of the Rings Online). The game features all sorts of upgrades and is coming in summer 2026 to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Cold Iron Studios and Daybreak announced Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 in a new trailer this week. It shows off a wealth of upgraded gameplay in the game, including a new Specialist class that allows players to mix and match the various aspects of other classes for whatever specialty you’re going for. In exchange, we’re getting a lot more types of Xenomorphs to slay. As Cold Iron puts it, “[A] massive variety of new xenomorphs will force players to stay mobile, maintain situational awareness, and use every tool at their disposal.” Fireteam Elite 2 will also launch with Horde maps to put your survival and shooting skills to the test.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite was an admirable, but somewhat lacking attempt at the chaos of Colonial Marines trying to survive an onslaught of aliens. Former Tech Editor Chris Jarrard found the weapons and gadgets fun and said the presentation was passable in his review, but he also said the sheer volume of Xenomorphs made for an experience devoid of tension, exacerbated by uneven sound design.
More Xenomorphs sounds like an odd answer to that criticism, but we’ll see how it plays out when Fireteam Elite launches this summer. Stay tuned to the Alien series topic for more updates.
